Claude was unavailable. So how did my projects keep moving?
Here's the background
While my account was under review, I couldn't use Claude. But the App Store still renewed my subscription for three thousand yen.
The refund has arrived. But this isn't really about the money.
What worried me was this: if an AI tool suddenly stops working, does all my previous work get trapped inside its chat window?
Keep work records outside the account
My projects kept moving because I kept my work records outside the account.
After each step, I write down three things:
- Where I got to.
- Why I made that decision.
- What comes next.
Read the records, then continue
Those notes live in local files. Code and versions live on GitHub.
When another AI takes over, I don't have to explain everything again. It reads the records first, then picks up the work.
Picking up the work doesn't mean getting it right
But picking up the work doesn't mean getting it right. I still check the results. And the decisions that need my judgment are still mine to make.
One minute after every step
If you work with AI, try this habit: after each step, take one minute to write down where you got to, why, and what's next.
The tools can change. The records stay in your hands.
